Although there are no recipes for survival, the validation of the torture victim's voice is central to the healing process that both she and her society need to pursue. Torturers seek to destroy us, our friends and families by manipulating our words and coercing us to be silent. Survivors who are finally allowed to freely tell our stories always demand justice and never again. When our communities listen and act, our voices recover their full strength.    Alicia Partnoy.
